5/26/09-Hello to all—Tom Copson Jr here—You know the guitar player from the wonderful band called “The Hustle” I read Kuf’s last blog about the other members of the band might have something to report about their holiday weekend. Well guess what people of the Hustle Blog land world—I have plenty to tell about my weekend. So here is the play-by-play holiday weekend according to me…
Friday: Completed my clinical social work duties and left work early for the weekend to work my new (Welcome to the Cosmic Square) CD layout. I also completed a couple of new tunes for my side project—The Lizards from Mars. The one tune was written from an Indian Raga called “Zodi” and here are the notes D, E (flat), F, G (sharp), A, B (flat). C (sharp), D. I love this particular scale because it has so many tonal possibilities as well as chord progressions-it makes me smile every time I play it-YAY.
Saturday: My girlfriend Melissa Herman had a birthday party at my house for one of her good friends. After I had some birthday cake and food I proceeded to play “Call of Duty 3” with my friend Dave on my playstation for about four plus hours. I can play “Call of Duty 3” for hours at a time until my eyes start to bug out. I also wrote another cool Dub tune around 2am called “Dub Town”
Sunday: I had an amazing Sunday rehearsal for Lizards from Mars side project with my friend Jake Leschinsky. Jake is the bass player from a great new Philly band called Swift Technique—go see them play this Thursday 9PM @ Time 1315 Sansom Street, Philly. Kuf and I are going to sit in on Thursday. Any who—Jake and I got through about eight tunes and played for about three hours! We played some of my tunes from my upcoming CD and two Jake’s songs (one was another killer Dub tune). I would say it was a productive Sunday for music.
